Fundamentals of Roving twist in short staple spinning

Twist in the roving for cotton yarn spinning is calculated based on the premise that the twist is directly proportional to the square root of the size (hank) of the roving material in the English system. Spinners have customarily used staple length as major criteria in deciding the twist in roving, no doubt that the staple length of fibres is the chief criterion while buying and selling of cotton.

Tips to reduce defects in knitted fabric

Yarn quality plays a significant role in the downstream processes like knitting and weaving. The performance of the yarn in knitting and weaving are judged by the stoppages of the machine, defects in the fabric produced. Any abnormality in the fabric due to defects would impair the aesthetics character of the fabric. Although fibre and yarn qualities are equally important for their performance in knitting, many mechanical variables affect the avoidable defects in the knitted fabrics.

Effect of Spindle Lift in Ring Frames on Productivity and Energy

In spinning mills, power consumption plays a major role in the yarn manufacturing cost. Ring frames consume power of around 42 -55% when compared to that of the other preparatory machineries. Furthermore, the yarn content in the cop is around 55 to 60 gms only depending upon the count spun. To produce this weight of yarn, more power is required to drive the spindles to run at the maximum speed and efficiency with acceptable waste levels. Nevertheless with those disadvantages, ring spinning system is universally applicable that most of the fibres can be spun to required fineness.
